What Vale do Lobo has to offer

Vale do Lobo is the biggest luxury resort in Portugal. Each year, around 750,000 visitors flock to the Algarve resort and it's easy to see why... No matter who you are or what you enjoy doing, there's plenty to see, do and experience in Vale do Lobo.

Whether you enjoy a spot of golf, adrenaline-pumping watersports or prefer to just relax on the beach - Vale do Lobo has a little bit of everything. Here's what to expect from the Algarve resort...

Before the resort was founded in 1962, the area was predominately used by farmers and fishermen. Vale do Lobo was the first resort to be built on the Algarve and the establishment of a five-star hotel and golf course prompted the construction of Faro International Airport.

After years of development, Vale do Lobo is now a popular destination for families, business people, sports personalities and celebrities alike. Brits particularly enjoy the area, as 56 per cent of the property owners in Vale do Lobo are British.

If you love sports, Vale do Lobo is the perfect resort for you. It boasts two 18 hole golf courses and one of the largest tennis facilities in the country, sporting 14 courts. There's even a tennis academy for members and visitors who want to get involved in training sessions and tournaments.

Although those are the most popular sports, visitors can also enjoy mini-golf, football, beach sports, watersports, spinning, yoga and aerobics.

Everyone needs time to relax on holiday and there's plenty of opportunity to do that at Vale do Lobo. Members and visitors can just choose to simply lie by the pool or on the beach but if you want a little bit more luxury, there's a great spa available too. In the spa, there are ten indoor and two outdoor treatment rooms, which offer up massages, herbal therapies and more. Plus there is a calming pool, steam rooms and saunas available too.

In the evening, visitors can enjoy 15 different bars and restaurants, as well as a range of shops and cultural events, such as concerts.

Safety and security

Whether you choose to stay or just visit Vale do Lobo, you can always feel safe thanks to the 24 hour security assistance service. Security guards patrol the resort and work in co-operation with the local authorities.

There's also a round the clock health assistance service if you need any medical help, as staff are certified by the Portuguese Red Cross. Plus, there are a number of specialists available at Vale do Lobo's medical centre who can provide advice on illnesses and accidents or emergencies of all kinds.

Family holidays can be fantastic fun, but sometimes the adults want to spend some alone time, perhaps in the spa or on the golf course. Vale do Lobo offers two children's services, one for younger children and one for teenagers. Both offer a range of activities and services so that your kids can have fun playing together whilst you go off and enjoy a massage.
