Quinta do Lago Property Guide

The south coast of Portugal has become something of a hotspot for Brits looking to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle. With plenty of fantastic weather and stunning scenery, it's no real surprise either. Quinta do Lago is particularly popular as it brings together all of the things that make Portugal such a great place to live.

As one of Europe's most famous and popular golfing resorts, Quinta do Lago can be found high on the priority lists of summer retreat hunters and property buyers from across the UK. It comprises a vast collection of luxury villas, all of which surround immaculate golf courses.

The perfect location

Quinta do Lago is situated in the southern region of the Algarve, just a 13-mile drive from Faro Airport. This convenient location brings with it a number of benefits for both residents and holidaymakers. Travelling, for example, can be kept to a minimum, with the airport transfer taking just 20 minutes by car.

The southern coast also enjoys some of Portugal's best weather. Temperatures at the height of summer - around July and August - can reach 26°C, while thermometers rarely drop below 12°C in January, which is by far the coolest month.

Golfing heaven

Golfers from around the world flock to Quinta do Lago year after year to enjoy the great facilities on offer. In total, there are three champion-standard courses within the resort's boundaries: South Course, North Course and Laranjal, the latest addition. All three of the sites offer challenges for even the most accomplished of players, which is perhaps why they've hosted so many top-level tournaments.

Attached to each of the courses are a range of dining and leisure facilities, with outdoor terraces and well-equipped clubhouses framed by an awe-inspiring coastal backdrop.

More than sports

Quinta do Lago has plenty to offer for those who aren't so interested in hitting the fairways too. The resort sits alongside the 2,000-acre Ria Formosa Natural Park, which is one of the best sites in Europe for birdwatching. With a number of unique beaches and tranquil lakes too, there are few places more relaxing in the world, let alone Portugal.

Amenities

Quinta do Lago is just a 10-minute drive from Almansil, which provides a base for numerous service providers. Many of the companies and organisations situated in the town cater specifically for British tourists and expatriates, with shops selling everything from groceries to furniture. A range of different cuisines can be found in the town's collection of restaurants too.

The proximity of Almansil's centre is particularly good news for families as it is home to International School São Lourenço, which conducts English-language lessons to cater specifically for expatriate children.

Overall, Quinta do Lago has lots to offer for anyone looking to enjoy a stress-free lifestyle in beautiful surroundings. While much of the resort's fame comes from its golfing heritage, its appeal certainly goes a lot further than sports.
